The Grain SA/Agricultural Writers SA Media Centre at NAMPO 2026 once again provided a dedicated workspace for journalists, photographers, videographers, and technical teams covering the event.

Approximately 120 members of the media made use of the facility during the week, representing almost 60 media organisations and industry platforms. Throughout NAMPO, the centre served as a working hub where media teams conducted interviews, edited photographs and video content, filed stories, and shared updates across print, broadcast, digital, and social media platforms.

Every year the facility is equipped with workstations, charging points, Wi-Fi access, and refreshments to support reporting activities throughout the day. During a media engagement session at the event, Minister John Steenhuisen emphasised the importance of credible agricultural reporting and the role of the media in sharing accurate information with producers and the wider agricultural value chain.

The Media Centre remains an important part of NAMPO’s communication infra-
structure, supporting the flow of information during one of the largest agricultural gatherings in the Southern Hemisphere.

Dr Dirk Strydom, managing director of Nampo (Pty) Ltd, held regular sessions throughout the week to update members of the media on various issues and give them the opportunity to ask questions.
Every year the Media Centre is branded with examples of recent Grain SA published products.
Journalists use this safe space to exchange information and edit work that is published on different media platforms during and after NAMPO.
The Media Centre is also utilised for media sessions, like this panel meeting on biosecurity by FNB held on 12 May. Panel members were, from the left, Dawie Maree (head of information and agriculture at FNB), Dr Dirk Strydom (managing director of Nampo (Pty) Ltd), Paul Makube (senior agricultural economist at FNB) and Phillip Oosthuizen (chief operations officer of RMIS).
