Grain SA/John Deere – Recipe competition
This new competition offers SA Graan/Grain readers the opportunity to showcase their creativity in the kitchen and stand a chance to win some #Lekkerrr prizes! We are looking for original and/or innovative grain- or oilseed-based recipes that earn spontaneous compliments from your family, relatives or guests.
What does the competition entail?
- The recipe must be unique. It may either be an original recipe or a well-known recipe that has been adapted to such an extent that it includes a surprising element.
- The recipe’s main ingredient – or at least a significant ingredient – must be one of the grains or oilseeds (processed or unprocessed) represented by Grain SA as a producer organisation, namely:
- Maize
- Wheat
- Barley
- Sunflower
- Soybeans
- Sorghum
- Canola
- Groundnuts
- To enter, the entry form on sagrainmag.co.za must be completed in full.
- A name or description of the recipe’s final product must be provided.
- All ingredients and quantities or measurements must be listed, as well as the number of people the recipe serves.
- The method must be set out step by step.
- A close-up photograph of the final product (a mobile phone photo at the highest possible resolution should be sufficient) must be attached.
- Entries are limited to one entry per person per month.
- Entries must reach us on or before the last day of a month; for example, entries for the February issue close on 28 February. Any entry received after the last day of a month will qualify for the following month’s competition.
- A monthly winner of the current competition (February to December/January issues of SA Graan/Grain) may not enter again during the same period.
- Entries that do not win may be resubmitted for consideration in a subsequent month.
- The competition is open to all ages; however, parental or guardian consent is required if the participant is under the age of 18.
- A monthly winner will receive a John Deere-branded gift and will qualify for the R5 000 cash prize, which will be awarded to the overall winner at the end of the year.
- Judging will be conducted by a panel appointed by SA Graan/Grain. The judges’ decision is final.
- Winners will be contacted personally by SA Graan/Grain and announced on the website (sagrainmag.co.za) as well as in SA Graan/Grain.
- The participant agrees that his/her identity may be linked to the submitted recipe and/or the competition through printed or online publication.
- By entering the competition, the participant grants permission for the organisers to use and publish the recipe, with due acknowledgement of the entrant.
- Employees of the Grain SA group, John Deere Africa and Middle East, as well as the editorial team of SA Graan/Grain, are not permitted to enter.
